Day in the Life

I thought I'd post up with Kelly's blog today for Day in the Life
This is a typical Monday and Wednesday for us

4:00 a.m. - Jason wakes up to get ready for work.  I usually roll over and hide my face hoping for a little more sleep

4:45 a.m. - Jason leaves for work and I roll over yet again hoping for just a little more sleep.  Have I mentioned that I am NOT a morning person?

5:45 a.m. - Roll over and beg the alarm clock for a few minutes if Haley has not already woken up. I always promise myself that I will start getting out of bed here and using this time as my devotional time but honestly it still has not happened

6:00 a.m. - Up and out of bed to get myself dressed for work.  If Haley is up, she sits at my feet and plays with my make up or watching Mickey Mouse on my phone.

6:30 a.m. - Go downstairs and prepare kid's vitamin and daily antihistamine. Get the kid's clothes picked out and bags set by door

I love her wild hair in the mornings

6:40 a.m. - Go in and get Haley out of bed if she hasn't already joined me.  Dress and give her medicine/vitamin

6:45 a.m. - Go in and get Cameron up and dressed.  Give him his medicine/vitamin.

6:50 a.m. - Load bags and kids into van.

6:55 a.m. - Head to my mom's to drop off kids.  I am blessed that my mom can keep my kids while I work and more blessed that she lives only 10 minutes away. They go to preschool on Tuesday and Thursday.

7:10 a.m. - Head to work.  It takes me 15 - 20 minutes to get there and I should be there by 7:30

7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - Work

11:00 - Noon - This is my lunch hour that I usually spend running errands like paying bills, shopping for birthday gifts or whatever odd thing that needs done.

Noon - 4:30 p.m. - Work

4:50 p.m .- Get to gym and change for class.  After nearly 5 years I decided that I needed to do this for me.  It was time to lose the extra weight and get back to being healthy.

5:35 - 6:40 p.m. - Body Pump class at local gym.  Jason picks the kids up from mom's, gets them dinner and they come up to the gym to hang out while I'm in class.

6:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Load kids up if they want to ride with me and go home

7:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Focus on kids - play, read, whatever they want

7:30 - 8:00 p.m. - Give both kids their baths and brush their teeth

8:00 - 8:30 p.m. - Prayers and bedtime routine

8:30 - 9:00 p.m. - Something light for dinner while Haley is falling asleep, sort through mail, start a load of clothes.  Fold a load of clothes if there is one.

9:00 p.m. - Load the dishwasher and set on delay to run while we sleep.  Head upstairs to shower and prepare for bed

9:30 p.m. - switch out laundry, pack bags for the next day and try to clean one area of my house per night

10:00 p.m. - Head to bed and hope for a long night of sleep

Most nights Haley wakes up around 11:30 p.m., 1:30 a.m. and then 5:00 a.m.  It takes me about 10 minutes to get her to lay back down and go back to sleep.  Thankfully this is no longer every night but still 3 - 4 times a week.  Neither of my kids were big sleepers when they are young.  We have discussed this at length with our pediatrician and it is what it is.  My oldest started sleeping all the way through the night when he was about 2 years 7 months old.  Haley is 23 months old so I hope that she will be following that same timeline or sooner.  Until then it is extra snuggle time for this Mama.

*Tuesday and Thursdays typically follow the same schedule just 30 minutes earlier in the evening hours since I try to have dinner on table by 6:00 p.m., kids in bed by 7:30 and myself in bed by 9:30

I have had the hardest time getting in my water and last week was awful all around.  I was unable to  workout one day and then work was/is STRESSFUL right now and I feel like I hold onto my weight when I'm stressed even if I'm eating okay so I was glad to see a loss.

I'm am just glad that I didn't gain this past week.  I was horrible in the way I ate.  There is always that one week a month where my willpower to avoid cravings and junk for is out the window and yikes did I eat last week.  I think the only thing that saved me was I did do Body Pump 2x last week and half a session of Body Combat.  I had to leave that class early because of a conflict in schedule with a repair man but I got part of it in.

My anniversary is two weeks from this Friday and I have got to refocus myself.  I need to watch my carbs and portions this week, drink my water and make sure I get all three workout classes in plus my walking in on Saturday.  I really would like to be at 160 and fitting nicely into a size 10 dress that I have hanging in my closet with the tags still on it by then.  8 pounds in three week - I can do it!

I knew with my weeks 3 and 4 slump that I need something to help me get re-motivated and decided it was time to make use of the gym membership that we have.  After checking the class schedule, the only class that was available after work on the days I was interested in going to the gym was Body Pump.  I started class Monday and LOVED it.  I went Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  I'm looking forward to continuing this week.

I'm still struggling to drink the water that I know I need.  It's not like I'm drinking tons of other drinks, I'm just not getting the fluid that I should be.  I am going to try to make a more conscious effort this week.

I hope that everyone had a positive week.

Biggest Loser Blogger Challenge - Week 3

TheJavaMama

Here we are at week 3 of this challenge.  Week 3 and 4 of any weight loss/get back in shape journey are always my hardest so I'll take my loss this week with glee.

Starting weight [01/06/2013]: 175 lbs
Week 2 weight [01/13/2013]: 172.2  (loss of 2.8 lbs for week)
Week 3 weight [01/20/2013]: 171.2  (loss of 1.0 lb for week)
Total weight loss: 3.8 lbs

I leave my house at 6:50 a.m. and get back home between 5:15 - 5:30 p.m.   I am NOT a morning person, I typically get up at 6:00 a.m. to myself and both kids ready.  Breakfast and Dinner can make or break me and last week they broke me.  I've got some ideas on some quick, easy but healthy meals that I need to start working on this week.

Biggest Loser Blogger Challenge - Week 2

Happy Monday Ya'll!  It is raining with sleet mixed in and downright cold here.  When the the kids and I bundled up and left the house this morning, it was 26 degrees with a real feel of 21.  Brrr

Mondays also mean Biggest Loser Blogger Challenge weekly check in.  I want to thank each of you for stopping by and offering words of encouragement last week.  I still have not made my way through all the link up but I'm getting there.  I look forward to encouraging you throughout this process of feeling better about ourselves and becoming healthier.  The weight loss is an added bonus.  So how did you ladies do?
I'm kind of meh about last week.  I did not do as well as I could have done but it was not a total wash either.  Here are my stats

Starting weight [01/06/2013]: 175 lbs
Week 2 weight [01/13/2013]: 172.2  (loss of 2.8 lbs for week)
Total weight loss: 2.8 lbs

Goals for this week:
* Drink my water.  I am notorious for bring my water but then not drinking it.  I get so busy that I look up at
lunch and my glass is still almost full and it is the same at the end of the day.

* Eat out less.  As a family this is something we need to work on.  I have started back with menu planning
and hope to get into the groove again.

* Be more aware of what I am eating.  I snacked way more than normal and even though it was just a bite
here and a bite there.  It adds up.

* Work out.  I did not get in any formal work out this past week. I must buckle down. I know from previous weight loss attempts that working out is KEY for me.

Who You Gonna Call

I am so over this winter and it really hasn't even gotten started yet. Between the yo-yo weather and allergies my kids have had runny noses and a cough since October 1st. The pediatrician says that they are not contagious and I know they are not contagious but with the flu season already being so bad, I feel like I am being judged every time they cough in public. Thankfully we switched their antihistamine at Christmas so their noses do not really run during the day but they do cough thanks to post nasal drip. All these sickies mean that I am cleaning my house non-stop and running around like a crazy woman. I wish there was a "Ghostbuster" that we could call to rid everyone of the germy stuff going around right now.

Making a break for it before the doctor comes in

I had to take this little one in yesterday because she kept complaining of her ear hurting and even though it is in the 70s today we are expecting snow next week following a cold front this weekend.  She had fluid on her ear but no infection.  She is also cutting four teeth right now so misery is her companion.

In preparation for the colder weather, the kids got new jammies and C really has gotten into Batman lately so when we found these in his size we quickly scooped them up.

I have done horrible this week with taking care of myself. I had planned on working out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So far I'm 0/2 on working out. I should be able to go tonight since the mile long must get ready for next workday list doesn't have to get done in addition to the extra cleaning. I have done okay with watching what I eat and my portions so hopefully that will be enough for the week.I just want to whisk us all away to somewhere tropical for the next three months. No cold weather, no responsibilities.

Biggest Loser Blogger Challenge - Week 1

Biggest Loser Blogger Challenge – Week 1

Oh my gosh, I cannot believe that I am about to admit this out in bloggy land BUT I need to be held accountable and I’m hoping this will help me.  I went out and bought a scale over the weekend.  I have not owned one in over 4 years.  Not going to tell lie folks, I do not like the number but at the same time the numbers do not really bother me. What bothers me is how I fit in my clothes.  I REFUSE to buy the next size up instead I hope to not only fit into my current size better but get back into some of those favorite outfits hanging in the dark corners of my closet again.

I told myself not to set any specific total weight loss goals for 2013 but I do hope to be in the middle (ish)of my healthy weight range before the end of the year.  Two kids and 10 years later, I seriously doubt that I will ever have the body I had when I got married but March 1st will be my 10th wedding anniversary and I would really like to be down at least 15 pounds so that I can fit into something cute as we celebrate.  Life is hectic and our schedules are not allowing for any time away from work anywhere near our anniversary but I know that we will go out for a date night and I really am tired of looking frumpy and lumpy in my clothes.

Mondays are CRAZY around here as I try to get myself, my 4 year old and my 21 month old out the door by 6:50 a.m. so I will weigh myself on Sundays and set my post up for Monday.  I have used and been successful with Weight Watchers in the past and without re-enrolling I will be following the WW guidelines and using several work out DVDs that I already own.

STATS
Height:   5’1”
Ideal weight range is 122 - 134.2 lbs. (55.5 - 61 kg.) www.healthcentral.com
Ideal weight range is 106 - 132 lbs www.weightwatchers.com
Starting Weight [01/06/13] :175
Current pant size: 12 or 14 depending on the pant

Waist: 35 inches
Hips: 44 3/4 inches
Bust: 35 inches

and the proof is always in the pictures.  These are not the best but I forgot that I was going to post pictures to motivate myself and quickly snapped these in a t-shirt and yoga pants.

Not a fan of looking pregnant almost 2 years later

Good luck ladies!  May we all find a place that we are happy with this coming year.

New Year...Better Me

A New Year has begun and while I do not make resolutions for the New Year, I have decided to look at areas of my life that I haven’t been happy with lately and seek ways to improve. I will not be setting specific goals but general goals that way I will not beat myself up if I do not quite hit the mark. I have decided that I need to stand up and recognize that part of improving my lackluster attitude will only happen if I make it happen so I am going to focus on the following in 2013

Personal – I deserve time to be “Amanda” – not wife, mommy, daughter, employee, etc. All my other roles are important to me but if I’m not taking care of myself, how can I take care of others. So I’m making a goal to allow myself a couple of hours where I get away from those roles and do what I need to recharge. By the end of the year, I hope to say that at least every other month I took time away and was just me.

Physical – I am not happy with the way I look in my clothes, the mirror or in pictures and it is time to change that. I am going to link about with Becky at The Java Mama to help me stay accountable but my basic goal is to feel better about my physical appearance at the end of the year. I do have a small goal I plan on setting that I will share in Monday’s post.

Spiritual – I have a tendency to not focus when I’m studying the Word and I have got to stop that. I need to get back to spending time in the Word and with the Lord. I have NEVER been good at making that a priority and since getting married and having kids I have let this fall to the bottom of the priority list. That has got to change. By the end of the year I want to be reading either my Bible or a devotional for 10 – 20 minutes a day at least 4 times a week. I CAN do this!

I may not post much else during the year but I am hoping that by posting a status update every Monday on at least my progress on my Physical that I will also evaluate privately on how sucessful I was in the other areas.
