Day in the Life

I thought I'd post up with Kelly's blog today for Day in the Life
This is a typical Monday and Wednesday for us

4:00 a.m. - Jason wakes up to get ready for work.  I usually roll over and hide my face hoping for a little more sleep

4:45 a.m. - Jason leaves for work and I roll over yet again hoping for just a little more sleep.  Have I mentioned that I am NOT a morning person?

5:45 a.m. - Roll over and beg the alarm clock for a few minutes if Haley has not already woken up. I always promise myself that I will start getting out of bed here and using this time as my devotional time but honestly it still has not happened

6:00 a.m. - Up and out of bed to get myself dressed for work.  If Haley is up, she sits at my feet and plays with my make up or watching Mickey Mouse on my phone.

6:30 a.m. - Go downstairs and prepare kid's vitamin and daily antihistamine. Get the kid's clothes picked out and bags set by door

I love her wild hair in the mornings

6:40 a.m. - Go in and get Haley out of bed if she hasn't already joined me.  Dress and give her medicine/vitamin

6:45 a.m. - Go in and get Cameron up and dressed.  Give him his medicine/vitamin.

6:50 a.m. - Load bags and kids into van.

6:55 a.m. - Head to my mom's to drop off kids.  I am blessed that my mom can keep my kids while I work and more blessed that she lives only 10 minutes away. They go to preschool on Tuesday and Thursday.

7:10 a.m. - Head to work.  It takes me 15 - 20 minutes to get there and I should be there by 7:30

7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. - Work

11:00 - Noon - This is my lunch hour that I usually spend running errands like paying bills, shopping for birthday gifts or whatever odd thing that needs done.

Noon - 4:30 p.m. - Work

4:50 p.m .- Get to gym and change for class.  After nearly 5 years I decided that I needed to do this for me.  It was time to lose the extra weight and get back to being healthy.

5:35 - 6:40 p.m. - Body Pump class at local gym.  Jason picks the kids up from mom's, gets them dinner and they come up to the gym to hang out while I'm in class.

6:45 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Load kids up if they want to ride with me and go home

7:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Focus on kids - play, read, whatever they want

7:30 - 8:00 p.m. - Give both kids their baths and brush their teeth

8:00 - 8:30 p.m. - Prayers and bedtime routine

8:30 - 9:00 p.m. - Something light for dinner while Haley is falling asleep, sort through mail, start a load of clothes.  Fold a load of clothes if there is one.

9:00 p.m. - Load the dishwasher and set on delay to run while we sleep.  Head upstairs to shower and prepare for bed

9:30 p.m. - switch out laundry, pack bags for the next day and try to clean one area of my house per night

10:00 p.m. - Head to bed and hope for a long night of sleep

Most nights Haley wakes up around 11:30 p.m., 1:30 a.m. and then 5:00 a.m.  It takes me about 10 minutes to get her to lay back down and go back to sleep.  Thankfully this is no longer every night but still 3 - 4 times a week.  Neither of my kids were big sleepers when they are young.  We have discussed this at length with our pediatrician and it is what it is.  My oldest started sleeping all the way through the night when he was about 2 years 7 months old.  Haley is 23 months old so I hope that she will be following that same timeline or sooner.  Until then it is extra snuggle time for this Mama.

*Tuesday and Thursdays typically follow the same schedule just 30 minutes earlier in the evening hours since I try to have dinner on table by 6:00 p.m., kids in bed by 7:30 and myself in bed by 9:30

Who You Gonna Call

I am so over this winter and it really hasn't even gotten started yet. Between the yo-yo weather and allergies my kids have had runny noses and a cough since October 1st. The pediatrician says that they are not contagious and I know they are not contagious but with the flu season already being so bad, I feel like I am being judged every time they cough in public. Thankfully we switched their antihistamine at Christmas so their noses do not really run during the day but they do cough thanks to post nasal drip. All these sickies mean that I am cleaning my house non-stop and running around like a crazy woman. I wish there was a "Ghostbuster" that we could call to rid everyone of the germy stuff going around right now.

Making a break for it before the doctor comes in

I had to take this little one in yesterday because she kept complaining of her ear hurting and even though it is in the 70s today we are expecting snow next week following a cold front this weekend.  She had fluid on her ear but no infection.  She is also cutting four teeth right now so misery is her companion.

In preparation for the colder weather, the kids got new jammies and C really has gotten into Batman lately so when we found these in his size we quickly scooped them up.

I have done horrible this week with taking care of myself. I had planned on working out on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So far I'm 0/2 on working out. I should be able to go tonight since the mile long must get ready for next workday list doesn't have to get done in addition to the extra cleaning. I have done okay with watching what I eat and my portions so hopefully that will be enough for the week.I just want to whisk us all away to somewhere tropical for the next three months. No cold weather, no responsibilities.

Where Have We Been???

I've been neglectful of this little blog but it hasn't been on purpose.  We have just been busy living life to the fullest.

Our last three months have looked a lot like this.

Cameron has finally learned to appreciate hunting for Easter eggs so we took him to the church hunt the Saturday before and he brought home a bucketful of candy-filled eggs.  Later that day we had a mini egg hunt at the house so that baby sister could get in on the festivities.
Haley was more interested the dirt and bugs in the yard but it was still fun to watch them interact.  Cameron's preschool had the annual zoo field trip.  I was able to take off from work and go with him.  It was a fun-filled but exhausting day.  I had not been to our local zoo in a couple of years so I got to see the renovations they had done.  One of them was adding this bird aviary where you go in and the birds are not caged so you can feed them, pet them, etc.  The kids loved feeding the birds in such a hands on way.
We tried to enjoy as much of the Spring weather as we could so we spent many afternoons and evenings outside.

We have this local Tex-Mex restaurant in town that we go to so often they know us by name.  They have fresh made salsa that is good but HOT.  Cameron will not touch it but Haley would pester us constantly for chip and dip.  Finally one day we were there and the salsa did not seem as hot and we let her try it.  She LOVED it.  Now every time we go she ask for her own bowl of salsa.  Just the other night she took her fork and was eating just the salsa.  Crazy girl!

More time soaking up the nice weather.
We took a trip to Houston to watch Grandpa and the Shriner's.  While there we got to visit with my Great-Aunt and her husband one afternoon.  We even got to meet up with a cousin for dinner.  It was nice.  Even though it is only 4 hours away, everyone's crazy schedules make it hard to get together.
Hitting the Road for Haley's first road trip
Cheesing it up on the Kemah Boardwalk
It has started to warm up so our outside time is much more limited.  There is not much you can safely do when the temperatures are in the 100s and the real feel with humidity is in the 110s.
Enjoying the rare summer outside time searching for bugs
We just had a Garden Ridge open here in town so to escape the heat I took the kids in to look around.  Cameron saw this chair.  He climbed in test it out and Haley followed suit.  Don't they look comfortable

Chillin' at Garden Ridge

We had registered Cameron and Haley for preschool to start in the Fall but were notified last week that the Board of Directors for the preschool that they had decided to close their doors.  This call ended up being a blessing.  I really wanted to put the kids at a different school but this past Spring they had a waiting list and I didn't want to lose our spot at our current school and no where to go this Fall so we just registered and were going to go with the flow.  After I got the news, I called the school we wanted them to attend and turns out they have an opening in the program for Cameron.  Haley will not be starting because she will only be 18 months but that is good.  She gets an extra year with Nana and it will be easy to get her in the program Fall 2013.  So while we were a little saddened about the closing we are excited and looking forward to a new school in August.

And that folks is what we have been up to.  Summer is officially here in Texas and it is HOT!  We are staying in as much as possible and playing as much as we can.  Only 8 more weeks of summer vacation left.

One Year Ago

After 39 weeks and 27 hours of labor, I finally was holding our baby girl.
She has had her daddy wrapped her finger from day 1
and now our baby is one!
Happy Birthday!  Mommy and Daddy love you so much.  We cannot believe that we have been so blessed.
